The very secret society of irregular witches

01/02/2025

"My review of The very secret society of irregular witches By Sangu Mandanna: Genre - Fantasy/Fiction Rating - 2.75/5 The plot of this book is pretty simple. A very lonely witch is hired to be the trainer of 3 little witches who are together with surprisingly several caretakers - one of them is a hot guy, of course, for the plot. How she navigates this new dynamic given her abandonment issues and also the challenges which arise in the house. First off, the plot doesn't progress at all in the first 200 pages or so. There was nothing to keep me feeling that sort of 'tension' you need to be hooked. I was just waiting and waiting to see the reason why she's even needed in that place. The story happens in the last few chapters. And when it happens, every single page is a plot twist, which doesn't even have enough backing. Everything is conveniently happening for the plot progression and you'll be like whaaaaatt The romance writing was AWFUL to say the least. I'm not gonna elaborate on the quality of the steamy scenes, I need to clean my eyes๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป The only reason I'm giving it 2.75 instead of 2 or something is because I did somehow relate to the main character and though the romance part was poorly paced, I relate to the emotion of her feeling safe and cared for. And also for what it's worth, it's an easy feel good read, which will somehow make you lost in the world of the book."
